Callahan Has 13:1 $ Advantage Over Brown

From Team Callahan:  Democratic nominee for Northampton County Executive John Callahan once again displayed his impressive fundraising prowess, reporting having raised $41,230 from May 7 to June 10. In the 30 Day Post-Primary Campaign Finance report, Callahan significantly out-raised the Republican nominee, John Brown, who reported raising no money. More importantly, this leaves Callahan with $90,001 cash on hand compared to Brown’s $7,003.

Since the beginning of the election cycle, Callahan has raised an unprecedented $438,415 from more than 500 individual contributors.

“This puts us in the driver’s seat heading into the summer months,” said Callahan’s campaign manager, Eric Nagy. “With the primary behind us, we are committed to running a serious campaign and we will have the resources to communicate with voters from every corner of Northampton County.”

Nagy concluded, “While sheer dollars are important, we are running a strong grassroots campaign, with over 500 individual donors to thank. Clearly, John Callahan’s record of job creation and fiscal responsibility is continuing to resonate with voters.”

Callahan, endorsed by The Express-Times and over 40 Democratic officials in the primary, won the nomination in a three-way contest by securing over 50% of the vote.

Paid-for politics on steroids.

Charlie Dent warned us about pay-to-play as standard operating procedure in John Callahan's Bethlehem.

Get ready for the sleaze train. Callahan will make greasy Pawlowski look like a rookie in the payoff and payback department.

Too bad that Browne, a classy guy, is stuck with supporters like you. That alone will give Callahan five points.

would be interesting to note NC republican donor cash that went to republican national and regional races.

Wonder if Callahan will run with the council candidates as a team or do his own thing.
word on the street is he is still pouting over the primary and mad at all kinds of people.

Doesn't look good for the other Democrats.

I thought issues and ideas are what make candidates in elections, not money!

It is Brown without an e. Do not confuse him with Patrick. I agree with Anon 5:59, the sleaze train is loading up with donors ready for the trip to Johnny Casino's Pay-to-Playground in 2014. Hard to believe that you are a fan of honest government Stoffa. But you need your privileged sources in the highest ranks of county government for your blog to survive, so why is anyone surprised about your endorsement?

Sorry to say but our political system is out of control in so so many ways!

Bernie, in fairness, Dent said what he said about Callahan and pay-to-play. He also ripped Callahan's fiscal management of Bethlehem as a sham and said Callahan wasn't honest with Bethlehem taxpayers. You reported much of this or shared links to Express and MCall stories about Dent ripping (I believe that was the term used in one headline) Dent. Charlie Dent is a popular fiscal conservative who's voice means something to some of us. His statements were not ancient history, either. They were made just a couple of years ago. Dent is straight shooter who tells it like it is.

Bernie is trying to preserve a favored "insider" role in the Callahan Admisntration. Much like with Stoffa, he wants to be able to have courthouse privileges most of us don't have access to.

His buddy Jim H got him on board but I doubt he will get what he wants. They are playing him like most smart politicians, and will dump him faster than toxic waste after the election.

No question the Dent information is still applicable. Bernie just pretends everything is different now. New uniform, new rules.

Politics is marketed at about a 6th grade reading level. That is where most people scan or read. Otherwise you wouldn't have the bullshit of both parties flying as high as it does. That is simply a fact. Most people don't understand the difference between conservative and republican. The Tea Party should have figured that it's history is engrained in misbehavior and bullshit. Dressing up like Indians, committing crimes, and then blaming those Indians for those crimes, is exactly what republicans are doing today. If you truly want a Tea Party, come heavy. Today's Indians may just want to slit your throats too.

Just means "pay to play " is back after an 8 year hiatus.

8:48 Most of the people I know in the LV Tea Party are good and decent people.

". Much like with Stoffa, he wants to be able to have courthouse privileges most of us don't have access to."

I'd love to know just what these special privileges are.

anon 11:23, after the Stoffa deals for Ken Mohr and Gentile as well as Republican cabinet picks to satisfy his big 2005 Republican donor, change will be refreshing.

John Brown is a class act. He has a strong financial background,as opposed to a slick "smoke and mirrors" campaign trail of economical disaster! Our taxes have gone up in Bethlehem,(and John C promised they would go down with the arrival of the Casino),our crime has increased, our city services have been cut,and our Mayor has admitted to fraudulent practices with the city budget!!!! We CAN NOT allow Callahan to abuse our county also!!!!

Bernie O'Hare said...

I agree Brown is a class act. But anyone who can raise that kind of money has a pretty strong financial background, too.

Anonymous said...

So Reibman had a strong financial background? Because Callahan dwarfs him in pay to play.

Anonymous said...

he is a home recker

Wow. Pay to play is back in town. If you weren't John's bitch, you'd be ripping him like Pawlowski who only does city business for sizable donations. The earlier comments re: Charlie Dent are accurate. Callahan is an ethical oil slick who won't talk to you without being paid up front.

p.s. I don't like Brown, either. But his level of graft ($7K) doesn't even make a blip on Callahan's radar screen. Money, money, money. Get ready to pay and play in NorCo.

Stoffa's gone. NorCo is open for "business" once again!

It's ALL FOR SALE in Allentown.

Jim Gentile-Northampton County been very very good to me!

Stoffa and his impeccable integrity are departing. Callahan and old style Democrat pay-to-play is back. I couldn't support all of John Stoffa's initiatives and decisions, but his integrity is unquestioned. I really think Callahan is nearly Stoffa's opposite in the integrity department. "You don't know what you got 'til it's gone." Very sad for NorCo.

anon 4:11 don't worry. The fantasy you speak of never existed. Other than this blog and the Express news room, no one thought Stoffa's "integrity was unquestioned". It was and often, by many.
He has lied and thrown people under the bus to get what he wanted. He is and always has been about himself.

Many, many people are glad he is leaving the scene and responsible good government can clean up the mess he has left.

andy daub will change that soon.he will soon kick in a huge cash flow.

soon time for john to meet with the coaf.

I love that picture if Callahan. He has the smiling look of the kid that had one too many concussions.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Yeah, I am sure he is shaking after all three of them threw their support to McClure. Now they'll support Brown.

We just had a visit from John Brown on this hazy hot and humid day of July 2'nd and guess what?

This lifelong "D" is voting for him, what a nice guy.
