Candlelight Vigil to Honor Victim of Gun Violence Next Wednesday

On January 26th 2013, after working until about midnight, Tyree Wimberly agreed to pick up a pack of cigarettes for his sister. On his way back, he passed by Scoobies "Gentlemens" Club moments, which was open after hours. After an argument with someone who wanted him to buy a baggie of marijuana, Wimberly was gunned down.

Multiple witnesses have stated that Wimberly, who was trying to turn his own life around, refused to make a buy. His reward was several gunshot wounds to the chest, which killed him.

A homicide warrant has been issued for Ulysses Rodriguez, who is appropriately known as "Slime." He last lived at 937 Walnut Street in Allentown.

Bethlehem School Director Basilio Bonilla is circulating an online petition seeking the closure of Scoobies. He claims the club is a nuisance bar located "within walking distance of two daycares, a senior citizen's retirement center, and hundreds of homes. The facility is also near two Bethlehem Area School District Schools (Rosemont and Clearview), as well as, one school in the Allentown School District (Ritter Elementary School)."

Bonilla and other concerned citizens will hold a candlelight vigil in memory of Tryee Wimberly on Wednesday May 8th from 6-8pm in front of Scoobies Gentlemen's Club in Bethlehem, PA.

This event will be attended by local political leaders, pastors, community activities, the family of Tyree Wimberly, and members of the community. We are coming together against violence and to shut down Scoobies Gentlemens Club.

Let me get this straight. From what I read the shooter is 20 years old. Was he in Scoobies before the shooting. How will closing Scoobies down help? I have never been to Scoobies, but why close a bar just because a shooting happened near this place of business, it does not make them liable.

The shooter, who is underage, had been inside the bar that night. It has been called a nuisance bar, although it has no liquor license. According to the club's manager, the shooter was not a patron. But witnesses and surveillance videos reveal that he was a patron at the club that night.

Thank you for clarifying that for me.

If that were so, I do not think he would schedule this vigil for the same night as the Exec debate. I think his sister is in the lead on this one.

MUCH MORE to this story that what has been told so far.
MUCH MORE.

Yeah really. There has to be more. Someone gets riddled with bullets for not buying weed? Please.

Is this about Bonilla, or the victim. I smell a political opportunist.

He never goes to school board meetings. He's a total opportunist.

Ny the way, Rosemont is vacant and hasn't been in operation in a LONG time and the district is currently trying to sell it. Clearview is a stretch to claim its "nearby". Ritter too.

Bonilla is a hack in training. He is on record as being a big supporter of Julio Gurity.
Check with him. He will be happy to tell you.

He was trying to turn his life around.
Isn't that what they say every time?

Oh well. At least Mr Bonilla gets to make a political appearance. Bonilla is a buddy of Guridy AND Callihan.

Maybe Bonillia will turn his life around ....... around from the course of a young pandering politician .
