We all know that Lehigh County Exec Don Cunningham is stepping down to take over the reins at the beleaguered Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp. (LVEDC). His successor, who must be a Democrat, will be appointed by Commissioners. If they're unable to get five votes for someone, the pick goes to the judges.
Board Chair Brad Osborne will address this process at a news conference on Friday afternoon. He pledges a "transparent and cooperative effort in achieving a seamless transition of government."
Right now, I'd have to say the odds on favorite is Dan McCarthy.

What about Dan McNeil. he is still hanging around the county, maybe they should give it to him.
Actually Dan McCarthy is the politically smart move for the Republicans on the board. He opens up his District seat so a Republican may have a shot at it.
Since he won't run for Executive, it keeps that office open as well.

Brad Osborne is a straight shooter. Didn't sell out to Scott Ott for ethical reasons when it would have been the right political move to do so.
But he's one man. Ott will screw us on this.

How can Scott Ott even screw this up? This subject is going to receive a ton of scrutiny.
By playing it safe, Scott Ott assures his election as executive.
Look ---- people may not like Scott Ott....actually many people do because he was elected commissioner ---- but it's silly to talk about him doing something untoward.
The process will run fairly and openly and I'm sure everyone knows who the democrats are. It will go to someone who's a Dem I am sure.
Does McNeil still got that phantom job in human services in Lehigh. This is what the don will bring to LVRDC.
Some vision. Jobs to the highest bidders.

I don't get it. Why would anybody think that I would apply for County Executive at this moment in time or any time. Obviously the person that made reference to me and what I think definitely has me on his mind. Maybe internally he does think I am qualified but fears it because I would do the right thing in office having no ax to grind and no monetary ties to others. But he are she doesn't have to worry. I am only an observer in what would develop.
Indeed to the chagrin of this person I know I am qualified to be a member of Allentown City Council and the Lehigh County Board of Commissioner. As I said before in regard to County Executive, I would have no ax to grind in doing my duties and no monetary ties to others.
I don't know if I would ever be given the authority to make decisions for the City or County, for whatever reason, but there is no question concerning my qualifications. I am absolutely qualified to serve and nobody of limited vision or foresight will ever convince me to think otherwise.

So the Republicans have a deal to put a Democrat in this position only because that Democrat can't run for county executive next year, somehow ensuring Scott Ott a victory.
Seems like the temperature is just right for a third party candidate to come into Lehigh County with a new vision... watch your backs.
Brad Osborne should run for it, sadly he is too valuable to his day job to give that up
