Wayne Grube Memorial Park Now Complete

Although it officially opened last October, engineers still had a few odds and ends left at Wayne A. Grube Memorial Park, located along Weaversville Road in Allen Township. Those are now finished, according to report from Northampton County Executive John Stoffa to County Council. He calls the park "a major accomplishment during a time when most counties and municipalities would not have entertained such a project." He hopes it "will be enjoyed by thousands of Northampton County residents for years to come."

Nothing personal against an apparently well liked individual, but why do we name things after politicians who simply spent others' money? One of our recently deceased military heroes would be a better choice. They earned it - and never took credit for spending my hard-earned tax dollars. We should avoid naming anything after any politician.

Bernie OT , I'm going nuts here. Purhaps you can look into what the deal is with the police dept's. My son was involved in a accident this afternoon, A semi truck's trailer hit my son's vehicle and drove off. So its not bad enough that the insurance company will not cover the damage because the driver drove off and no one could obtain his license,I might add totaled his vehicle. Thankfully my son was unhurt . However It's not bad enough that the insurance would not cover damanage and that the officer that was on the scene was very rude . Simply because I asked the officer to allow me contact our own towing company to remove my sons vehicle out the street . This after hearing that the company was going to charge my son 190.00 to tow the vehicle 1 mile. The officer got very nasty and demanded the towing company they sent for and have under contract to tow it . The towing outfit did take it and dropped it off and was trying to also charge my son a imbound fee . What kind of scam is this . This is not the first time this has happend

I served with Wayne Grube for 4 years on Northampton County Council. I have never found a more committed public servent. Wayne always advocated for Northampton County taxpayers. He was not only a great public servent, but he was also a friend too many including me and my family.
I was fortunate to be able to attend the opening ceremony last year.
Anyone who has anything negative to say about Wayne should have the courage to identify sign their name.

Maybe now Stoffa will stop milking the good name of a beloved man for his own praise. Enough speeches John.

I have deleted two comments, one of them particularly vicious, attacking Joe Brennan. Although Joe is an elected official and I ordinarily allow this kind of attack, one of the two closely timed comments was extremely hurtful. Of course, they were anonymous.

Bernie,

On the Wayne Grube issue...never a better human being public servant person has served us in NC! Many tied such as your Dad, Bechtel, Hahn, Hemstreet, Hartzell & others but is all I have to say for now.

On the other hand, The OT A-Town towing situation is problematical and deserves public attention. no reason for city to favor one towing entity over another without authorization by a citizen involved. OK if some kind of professional service needed but still community should only be able to offer "list" of Pro folks possible to be contracted without preference to any single entity. Is this just another fee that A-Town needs to pay for their debts?

I partially agree with 6:07 PM, without being disagreeable regarding Mr. Grube. With all due respect to Mr. Brennan's contribution, the following Northampton County residents are the MOST deserving individuals:

Captain Christopher Scott Seifert, died 3/23/2003, by non-hostile homocide, Camp Pennsylvania, Iraq

1st Sgt Christopher D. Coffin, died 7/1/2003, by hostile vehicle accident, Babil Province, Iraq

Corporal Barton R. Humlhanz, died 8/26/2004, by hostile fire, Babil Province, Iraq

Corporal Kyle J. Grimes, died 1/26/2005, by non-hostile helicopter crash, Anbar Province, Iraq

Pvt 1st Class Joshua P. Klinger, died 6/14/2005, by hostile fire IED attack, Fallujah, Anbar Province, Iraq

Specialist Frederick A. Carlson, died 3/25/2006, by non-hostile heart attack, Al Taqaddum, Anbar Province, Iraq

Amn 1st Class Austin H. Gates Benson, died 5/3/2010, by non-hostile, Kyber, Afghanistan

Specialist Joshua A. Harton, died 9/18/2010, by hostile small arms fire RPG, Kaftar Khan, Afghanistan

Bill,
I just read your post. I agree with you and I would support recognizing the people that you refer to. I only represent a small portion of Northampton County, but i would like to honor them along with my Republican and Democratic counterparts who represent Northampton County.
Feel free to give me a call.
Thanks,Joe

Politicians should only have sewage treatment plants named for them. And Joe Brennan should carefully read posts before criticizing taxpayers who hold military heroes in higher regard than rotten politicians. Congress has a new 10% approval rating. Joe and his PA legislature embarrassments would probably be rated lower in a statewide poll. His attitude toward hard working taxpayers is a major reason why.

They should name the new DUI facility after JB.

I will contact your office with ideas and possible public and private partnership funding streams.

Wayne was a tireless public servant. He deserves some recognition. I think this is fair.

Can't believe how vicious some people are. Now Wayne Grube is being attacked, even though he's dead and can't defend himself. But the coward still does it anonymously.

Wayne was a dedicated public servant, a friend, and a Vet. Leave him the fuck alone.

Sadly, this is using Wayne as a cheap applause line for Stoffa and company.

Mn, your hatred of Stoffa must be very deep. The park was named after Grube by Council, not Stoffa. Stoffa announced that improvements to the first phase, about 50 acres, are complete. What is he supposed to say, that improvements at a county park in Allen Tp are now done. Had Stoffa done that, without mentioning Grube, you'd be all over him for that, too. I suggest that you get some help.
