Barron Makes Acusations, But Can't Answer Them

You may think that being a bottom-feeding blogger is easy. Sure, women throw themselves at me all the time. People hound me for autographs, too. But there's a dark side. When I take controversial positions, I really piss people off, sometimes without even trying.

It's a gift.

Over the past five years, I've been called just about everything, from pedophile to cross-dresser to drunken disbarred attorney. I've been impersonated. I've been accused of posting comments under assumed names or anonymously. I've received anonymous letters that depict me in homosexual poses. There's been the occasional death threat, and recently, one of my readers began emailing me pictures of Hermann Göring's corpse.

Wishful thinking, I suppose.

All of this goes with the territory. Besides, some of these attacks are true. I really am a drunken disbarred lawyer. I really did get caught, stark naked, in the men's room by Court Administrator Jim Onembo after going in there to change out of sweaty bike clothing on a hot day. I really did prance through the courthouse in a dress on a dare from a gay friend, who looked really good in drag. I even asked him out, but he shot me down.

But even I was unprepared for last week's assault. In a news conference with Channel 69, Gracedale lawyer Larry Otter claimed I might be going to jail. In emails, he told me I was "collateral damage" and should drop my signature challenge to the Gracedale referendum. Apparently, my contacts with a County lawyer were just like Bonusgate.

In the initial rush to judgment, even Council President John Cusick piled on, telling a Morning Call reporter that "perhaps" Ron Angle and I had misrepresented ourselves as "private citizens."

According to Controller Steve Barron, "It's clear the [Stoffa] administration was working with the people who brought the private petition challenge." Apparently, it was a crime for me to have talked and shared cases with the attorneys who represent the County. Barron's beef is that taxpayers were funding my litigation, which was news to me. He put two and two together and came up with five. He announced his faux audit to a 3' tall reporter who "cornered" him, but never bothered disclosing it to the Stoffa administration.

On Wednesday, Barron was walking the halls, telling employees who would listen to him that "John [Stoffa] is in big trouble." A Channel 69 reporter was claiming that the County had just given me all 507 Gracedale petition copies without payment because the elections office had no record of a receipt. Never mind that I never asked for copies, and just subpoenaed those records.

That was enough for me. On Wednesday afternoon, at a Council Finance meeting attended by Barron, I blasted both him and John Cusick for their irresponsible accusations. "I am really sick and tired of the politics and pandering to unions going on by people who consider their own reelection more important than the best interests of the County." I asked Council President Cusick to hold Barron accountable for his pandering to unions, just as Cusick held Barron responsible last year when our "nonpolitical" controller was caught pandering to unions at T-Mobile.

When it was Barron's turn to talk, he had no audit reports concerning Gracedale, and Cusick had to ask him about what bothered him. Apparently, the mere fact that Eckert spoke to me and Angle, and that they were preparing for their own lawsuit, raised "red flags." But when Ron Angle confronted Barron about his irresponsible statements, all the Controller could do was run from the podium. When asked specifically about telephone calls, all Barron could do was throw his hands in the air.

I videotaped this confrontation, and you can judge it for yourself. In my assessment, it was the Bulldog at his best.

Ironically, neither The Morning Call nor Channel 69 was there.

Barron's mistake was in not telling the Northampton County Bull@#%!*^ to go to hell. Experienced leaders would have just walked away and told Angle they would talk to him when he grows up.

You see Barron is an independently elected official who was courteous enough to attend the committee meeting. Once Angle went into his innuendos and wisecracks and political posturing, Steve made a big mistake. He tried to reason and discuss his concerns with Angle. Angle is not interested in answers, solutions or reason, he is interested in Angle. Angle always has an agenda and is interested in viciously attacking any who question his dubious actions.

So what Steve should have done is told Angle that if he Angle wanted to have this type of discussion, he should write down all his questions, roll them up into a ball and shove them up his fat arse.

Of course Barron is young and inexperienced. More worldly pol's familiar with the Angle attack mode would have told Angle to take up his issues with a witch doctor or a mirror. Pol's that have been around are not intimidated by Angle.

Angle as always, sees himself the victim when he has been the most vicious, cruel and arrogant elected official in the history of the Lehigh Valley.

Enough bullshit O'Hare.

No, Barron's mistake was to run for office, an error that will be fixed in November. Barron was not engaging in a courtesy. He was hoping that his audit reports would get him some ink. What's sad is they are not his, but come from his staff. When Barron does an "audit," hr releases them to the press. Barron basically accused Angle of criminal activity. Otter told 69 people might go to jail. In both cases, these comments are complete horseshit from people who have an agrenda. When one of them was finally confronted, he looked pretty pathetic. I'll be confronting Gracedale Goons myself this week.

I wonder who this so called bulldog really thinks he is,Barron is an elected offical just as the so called bulldog is.The problem with the so called bulldog is that he thinks he is everyones boss, dont forget bulldog who your bosses are they just happen to be the voters that you represent. To the people of the slate belt area get out and vote.

Anonymous said...

was it throughly investigated by anyone ? or is your word against his?

Anonymous said...

Ron is asking Barron if his job is political Duh!!! Hey Ronny boy Barron is an elected offical just as you are,but hopefully you wont be an electd official for much longer.

Bernie O'Hare said...

It does not matter. I could be on the phone with Eckert every day. They could have written my pleadings and it would have been no violation of anything. That firm is charged with doing everything it can to help sell Gracedale.

The notion that the County can't spend money to defend against an initiative that restricts it from selling one of its own assets, is ridiculous. Under the reasoning of the Otter, a group could decide to give the Courthouse to the Crips, and the County would be powerless to oppose that initiative.

So as a matter of law, it makes no difference. When Barron was confronted and asked to be specific, all he could do was throw his hands up.

I did talk to Eckert several times. They were involved in companion litigation and, had I not filed, they would have filed a signature challenge themselves. I really appreciate their advice and suggestions, but my litigation was completely independent. I prefer to make my own mistakes.

Ron never spoke to them about the litigation at all.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"Ron is asking Barron if his job is political Duh!!!"

And Barron conceded that, aside from his own reelection, he should stay out of politics. If you want to elect a Controller who injects himself in policy and politics as opposed to County finance, prepare for a few witch hunts.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"dont forget bulldog who your bosses are they just happen to be the voters that you represent. To the people of the slate belt area get out and vote."

And his bosses would be very pleased by this video. It establishes very clearly the difference between panderers like Barron and Angle. For all his flaws, in the end, Angle follows his conscience. Barron does what the unions want, even to the point of threatening nonunion companies. In addition to statements to the press, Barron was engaged in a whisper campaign against Stoffa on Wednesday, telling County employees that Stoffa is in trouble. Barron is no accountant, never could pass the bar, spends 15 hrs per week in the office, and is smearing Stoffa.

Ironically, Barron is complaining about the use of taxpayer dollars for this litigation. By that reasoning, he should audit himself. On both hearing dates, Barron spent the entire day in the courtroom, passing notes to lawyers. Under Otter's reasoning, that's a use of taxpayer money on a partisan political issue. So Barron should turn himself in.

Anonymous said...

so there advice is free ?

Anonymous said...

The only accusation I will make is that you are a bad speller.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Was Barron's advice free? If it is unlawful for the County's attorneys to speak to me, isn't it equally unlawful for the County's Controller to be advising the Gracedale Initiative Committee?

Anonymous said...

i think in your case yes ... you were acting as a private citizen right?

Bernie O'Hare said...

Yes, I was. I presume the Gracedale Inititative Petition committee are private citizens, too. So if it is illegal for me to talk to county lawyers about this litigation, isn't it equally illegal for them to talk to the Controller about the litigation? Isn't it illegal for him to be at both hearings, interjecting himself? Isn't that a misuse of taxpayer resources? Please enlighten me.

The Battle Cry of Freedom said...

Just one simple question here. How does Barron get away with his thugism regarding the unions and still hold a seat in County Government. The man should have been toseed the minute his union activity was discovered.

Anonymous said...

because taxpayer funds were used in your acting as a private citizen court case.

Anonymous said...

So exchanging of pleasentries and leaving now becomes I spoke with them several times.
If you are going to give the Gracedale Goons the what for, please let me know when and where.
I wouldn't want to miss you kicking a polio patient and then running away.

Anonymous said...

you protest quite alot on this subject ... is this really deflect and distract because of what an investigation will turn up ?

Bernie O'Hare said...

I am protesting bc I do not like being depicted as a criminal on the front pages of the Morning Call or in a Channel 69 broadcast. I'm funny that way.

Now answer my question. If the County has somehow violated the law by talking to me about my litigation, hasn't Steve Barron violated the law by talking to the Gracedale people. He was in court, handing notes every 5 seconds to lawyers and was huddling wt them in the hallway. Was he devoting taxpayer resources to beneft private interests? Under his own theory, he is guilty of violating the law, whatever law that is.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"because taxpayer funds were used in your acting as a private citizen court case."

I see. Well, when Barron was huddling with union lawyers and passing them notes and participating in two hearings, wasn't he using taxpayer funds to aid private citizens? Wasn't he doing the very thing he is complaining about?

Anonymous said...

You indict yourself with your own words, Mr Bigmouth. They will use them against you in a court of law.

Anonymous said...

i think the two issues are different if you were discussing your case as a private citzen with the county attorneys it appears you were collaberating with them , for which they were handsomely paid. i don't know about barron or his actions and he should've been called out then... he wasn't so i can't say one way or another but i feel it is his responsiblity to bring attention to the billing question and we as taxpayers deserve an explanation for those charges that is only fair.that way the taxpayers can be assured nothing funny was going on.

Bernie O'Hare said...

You're not answering me. If I have broken all kinds of laws bc County lawyers actually talked to me about my litigation, hasn't Controller Steve Barron broken all kinds of laws, too? After all, he consulted with the private litigants involved in the Gracedale initiative. He was at both hearings, passing notes to attorneys and huddled with them in hallways. Shouldn't I be saving a cell for Barron, too?

Bernie O'Hare said...

"You indict yourself with your own words, Mr Bigmouth. They will use them against you in a court of law."

I look forward to that. In a court of law, I'd be told what law I've supposedly violated.

Angle has no principles. What he think sis good is good, what he thinks is bad is bad. You like him are a hypocrite.

Most pol's in the Lv get donations from people working with and for them. Do I like it, no; does it happen yes.

So each and every case of that means pay to play, right? if you say no you are a hypocrite.

Angle does to Barron, what he claims Barron did to him. the entire thing is crazy.

As said before Barron is an independently elected official whose only problem is even acknowledging that jackass Angle.

Anonymous said...

Angle has "basically" accused everyone who disagrees with him as engaging in criminal activity.

You and Angle think you should be able to "intimate" criminal activity by anyone you so desiree, yet you cry like little girls when legitimate concerns are raised about you.

You worked with an independent contractor hired by Northampton County. Angle can bluster, Stoffa can babble but that is the fact. You are not an elected or appointed official. As a taxpayer, I as many do not see any reason why our tax dollars should go to another one of your political vendetta lawsuits.

What you did was wrong. Angle as a county council member certainly can be talking to these guys, even though on principle I think Angle is lying about the subject matter. Of course this is standard behavior for the Stoffa gang. Remember the Gracedale consultants who called County Council members to get their opinion on what should be done with Gracedale. Great professionalism there as well.

Agreed, Barron should tell Angle next time put it in a memo. I hope County Council does play games with the Controllers solicitor. The Controller, like the County Executive, has the right to "defend" his authority under the Charter and we will have another Angle/O'Hare inspired bullshit lawsuit paid in full by county taxpayers.

I hope the voters give Angle the boot and then Stoffa. Finally you three can take your "three stooges" show on the road. Give the rest of the County a break and a chance at real grown up government.

Love Life!!

because the perception is eckert seamans was paid for the court case you brought as a private citizen . frankly barron's not been accused of anything improper except by you. it's not ok the taxpayers paid 11,000 for your very up close and personal court case.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Isn't Barron paid as County Controller? With taxpayer money? If it is wrong for county-paid attorneys to talk to me about my Gracedale litigation, then isn't it equally wrong for Barron to consult with the Gracedale people concerning that very same litigation? Isn't he wasting taxpayer money for the benefit of private litigants?

You can't have it both ways.

I certainly did talk to them and exchange caselaw with them. You got me. But guess what? Barron is more than an independent contractor. He is a County employee. He used taxpayer resources to work with members of the Gracedale initiative committee. They are not elected officials, either. But under the goofy reasoning being advanced by our bar-failing Controller, the belong in jail.

No one has identified what laws were supposedly violated, but under our Controller's reasoning, he should call a news conference to announce that he is investigating himself.

You said Barron works fifteen hours a week tops. Take that as the gospel and you would be hard pressed to prove he was on the clock when he chatted with "the goons". What he does in his free time is of no consequence. YOU on the other hand solicited and received information, advice and or legal assistance on the Countys dime. You lied to FMZ about only saying "howdy" to the lawyers. Then in here you go to great lengths to explain the lengthy legal conversations you had with the firm. GUILTY. YOU OWE ME $11000

Bernie O'Hare said...

According to Barron himself, he is a FT Controller. The information he supplied to Gracedale litigants and their lawyers were County documents. Clearly, he was doing exactly what he is criticizing Eckert Seamans for doing.

Sure, I had a few conversations with the lawyers. I was also truthful to 69.

The reality is that NOBODY did anything wrong, but if you want me hauled off, you better be ready to haul off the Barren one as well.

Anonymous said...

what is important here is that things were done in an honest fashion ..... rather one can conclude if this went on and apparently it did ... it was improper and unethical ... taxpayers should not be footing your bill.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Really? Well, aren't they footing Barron's salary? They paid him to pass notes to lawyers and meet with them in hallways, as well as who nows how many other meetings.

Anonymous said...

I did'nt see an itemized bill submitted by Barron, like the one that was submitted for the legal advice the law firm gave you, a private citizen. Did you or did you not tell FMZ you ONLY EXCHANGED PLEASENTRIES AND LEFT THE ROOM. Or did you tell them all of what you have related in here and they omitted that information?
If that is the case, you would be well advised to contact them for a apology and retraction. These types of things are the catalysts of investigations. So which is it?

Bernie O'Hare said...

The WFMZ account relates to ONE instance in which I did exchange pleasantries and left. There is nothing inconsistent between what I told them and am saying here.

You claim that the itemzed bill is what makes the county lawyers (and me) dirty. How much more dirty is Barron, who took money from the taxpayers and provided no bill or accounting whatsoever. He used his public office to help citizens in a private cause.

If you want to break out the pitchforks for me, break them out for Barron.

Time to give up. You've lost.

No offense Bernie, but if the County decided to go with your litigation over that of a legitimate, licensed firm, I as a taxpayer am upset by this.

You in fact were an attorney, but that was several years ago. They (Eckert) were hired to do the work. If the County (taxpayers) are paying the firm, they should be doing the work.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Well, I can understand that, but my decision to sue was made independently of what the County was doing. Once I made that decision, the County decided to focus on the Home Rule Charter. That's their call. I'll be the first to agree that Eckert would have done a much better job than I did. On the other hand, letting me sue on that aspect and pursuing the HRC question independently ended up saving you many thousands of dollars.

Enough said...They are going to pay them thousands already, and some will say they paid for what you did.

Anonymous said...

O'Hare are you back on the sauce? Your so called logic is that of an angry child.

You are a private citizen who was allowed to use a county paid contractor for private reasons.

An excellent point was made earlier, that if you want to stretch a point Angle as an elected official has some cover with the contracted lawyers. Barron as another elected part-time county official can talk to whom he pleases. The public's recourse with Barron as with Angle is at the ballot box. Stoffa giving you unique access to a tax payer paid private contractor gives us no real recourse. At the end of the day, Stofa is the most corrupt person in this travesty. The problem is no one holds him accountable so he does as he pleases without regard to rules or law.

You and the Stoffa gang should be ashamed of yourselves.

Stoffa still out there writing down names off of tombstones, or did he get lost again.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"You are a private citizen who was allowed to use a county paid contractor for private reasons."

And you didn't save me a dime. I'll be paying your room and board for years at NCP because of your antics.

Mr. Barron as an independently elected official can communicate with whom he pleases in the pursuit of information that will benefit the taxpayers. His inquiries with those attorneys can be defended as part of his job. In dealing with county Administrators underhandedly, the Stoffa gang in allowing tax paid county consultants to help a private individual in their private court case is quite a different matter.

You are not on an equal footing with Barron when it comes to this issue. You and the Angle/Stoffa cabal screwed up. You like Angle are now deflecting and trying to confuse, by acting like a whiny bitch.

People see it for what it is. A tax payer consultant has been allowed to assist you in a private legal matter. The investigation continues. Will you reimburse the county $11,000 for personal services you used county vendors to provide.

Truth Over Lies

Bernie O'Hare said...

All you are demonstrating is that you are a complete idiot ho prefers Lies Over Truth.

The theory being espoused here is that taxpayer resources should not be devoted to private litigation, even when it involves the sale of a County-held asset. Thus, County lawyers broke all kinds of laws for speaking to me, and I'm guilty because ... because .... well, just because.

I've maintained all along that County attorneys had every right to talk to me. But if you think this violates some unnamed criminal law, it necessarily follows that the County-paid Controller violated the law, too, when he assisted the Gracedale Initiative Committee. And unlike Eckert Seamans, he was deeply involved, passing notes left and right, providing county documents and huddling with lawyers.

If it was illegal for County lawyers to speak to me, then it was illegal for Barron to speak to the Gracedale litigants.

Bernie O'Hare said...

"Once Ron decided you were going to sue"

Actually, I talked Ron into joining me for purely selfish reasons. I thought having a Council member would give the litigation more credibility and did not think for a moment that this would hurt his reelection chances. Ron does not care about that, but I do.

Bernie, EXACTLY how did Mr. Barron help the Gracedale initiative?

Bernie O'Hare said...

I've explained EXACTLY what he was doing. He was passing along County documents, met repeatedly with Gracedale lawyers, including during two hearings on this subject. I find it highly ironic that Barron himself was doing exactly what he is complaining about.

These actions by Mr. Angle is exactly why NorCo needs a change. Keep these kinds of videos of Mr. Angle coming Bernie, he will sure to be voted out! Shame on him for using time during a Finance Meeting to turn it into the usual bullying that he is so famous for. Mr. Angle has postured and bullied people during every meeting he attends and people are sick and tired of his constant rah rah campaigning for himself during public meetings. He slams past councils thinking he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well guess what......he isn't!

Anonymous said...

As a taxpayer......these records are available to anyone that requests them from Mr. Stoffa. Believe me.....Mr. Barron just brought this information out sooner than what the taxpayers were going to bring it out. You think the only people that are watching this whole thing unfold are the Gracedale Initiative people. Well you are wrong, they just brought all this to light and now more residents are closely watching what is going on with Northampton County Council and especially Ron Angle. He scolds Barron like some kind of child during this video all the while he collected his 3 thousand dollar donation from the private prison he wanted to build and a large donation from Mr. Atiyeh (through someone else named) Then he tries to cover up by saying he used the money to do his own survey....BS. His pockets are to deep and everyone is starting to see it~!

Bernie. What would you make of an elected official who says, if you fire Archie DiIsidore I will vote to sell Gracedale. Otherwise, my vote is in doubt.
Surely you will agree that there is no personal agenda there. As always, just the public good in mind.

He is a venal, vicious and solely motivated by private agendas and personal gain. The fact that you fail to admit this fundamental truth is a testament to your bias and lack of intellectual honesty.

Then perhaps you should stop reading this blog.

I happen to be aware of that telephone call, made in anger the night after Angle was gaveled down in Lower Mt. Bethel Tp, where Archie's wife is the chair. Clearly, he let his personal animosity get the better of him.

Nevertheless, Angle is right. The Civil and Criminal Divisions should both be placed under the Courts, and the "Director of Court Services" position should be eliminated.

Just a few weeks ago, three judges convened to complain about the criminal division. It is a mess, and it is hurting the courts.

Although the people who work there are at war with everyone, Archie D'Isadore has little control. They are all UNION workers and it is next to impossible to fire or even discipline them.

The answer is to place the office under the courts. That way the unions still get their dues, but the employees work at the pleasure of the courts. If they screw up, they can and will be canned.

A change like this will require a change to the Home Rule Charter.

Instead of focusing on how bad Angle is, why not fix the problem?

I prefer to focus on how bad Ron is, everyday, everynight, to anyone who will listen. I want him voted out. Nothing personnal mind you, I just don't care for him as a human.

O'Hare will always blame the victim rather than the criminal when it comes to Angle. He will deflect and deflect for his premo mancrush and benefactor.

You are right. Angle is a cowardly bully who runs when confronted one on one but loves to berate and belittle from his seat of power. The only thing that guy has ever held close to his heart is his wallet. Your wallet, widow's wallets, Old mens wallets, everyone's wallets he can get this hands on.
