Speaking of Unprofessional Conduct

... there's this little tidbit from Pam Varkony.

I checked out Varkoney's blog. Wow, now that is an ego trip. Could she fit anymore photos of herself on the banner. I especially like the photos of the nice white lady helping the poor brown women. Reminds Me of the pictures out of India during the English occupation. A touch of colonialism anyone?

Give me a break! My mother would have said that pointing out people's bad manners is bad manners. Doing it on a blog is even worse. Mr. Mayor has a big job and the Blackberry allows him to stay informed. I'm sure he and his wife would prefer to leave it at home and listen to Girl Scouts sing. Ever think that maybe an emergency came up?

Time to do the politically incorrect thing and defend Pam.
If you are going to attend a function, have your heart in it.
as soon as I read it I wondered how many shots would be coming at Pam for pointing it out.
It is bad manners, period. Why couldn't the Mayor have quietly had someone inform the emcee he had to depart and expressed regrets?
The same critics of Pam for reporting this are likely the same people who think the city is on sound financial footing and that it is safe to walk the streets at night.

see, that's what the priest told me, and that's why i tsopped going to mass.

The Mayor should wear a t-shirt that reads, "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!"

Ed has done this at countless events. It is seen at rude because it is.

Bernie,
Next time you see Pam, please tell her hardly a soul will comment on her blog anymore since she now requires name and email address.

Now, as for the mayor and his mrs., manners perhaps they have not.

No! A mayor represents a city. He and his wife could have waited a minute to leave. It was rude.

We love Mrs. Varkony's blog photos. Sounds like someone else is a bit jealous.

here's a messy comment for bernie to clean up;

the first comment submitted to varkony's post about the new school super came from me, but it never appeared. unlike pam's post, which was just a rehash of the PR statement released from the school's media person, my comment actually had some analysis and conclusions. bloggers and readers may notice that pam never comments on other blogs, except a few words here, after bernie posts one his "welcome back pam posts". well, pam will be away again, she has an assignment to finish, she's on a mission.

two things are predictable, bernie will respond with a long defense, and we will get another welcome back pam post down the line. why can't i play better with others?

When an elected official goes out in public and represents he "people", he or she should exhibit at least decent behavior.
Had Allentown's mayor hidden behind a potted palm wearing a wig and moustache, he could have been as rude as he seemingly was. Shame on him. And in front of the Girl Scouts!

No, do you remember 9/11? When President Bush was told about what happened, he stayed in the classroom full of kids. He stuck it out and then left to take care of business. Any emergency is taken care of by emergency responders, not his royal highness. He has a duty and he shirked it. Plain and simple.

MM,

You mean to tell me one of your erudite comments was never approved on Pam's blog? How tragic! I receive numerous complaints from people whose comments on your moderated blog never see the light of day.

Since you have such obvious disdain for her, you should be thankful she has no time to comment in the blogosphere.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Anon 1:46 is belittling Pam for her work in Afghanistan and is very quick to note the pictures of "poor brown women." Kinda' makes me wonder who is the colonialist.

Of course, this is a Pawlowski attempt to diverty attention away from his own insensitive behavior.

Anonymous said...

Just imagine what would happen to a Girl Scout if she walked out during the Anthem!

michael molovinsky said...

bernie, you criticize donovan and me for having a moderated blog, but not pam? btw, the very few comments which do not appear on my blog usually appear on lv somebody, which is where they came from. last, and most relevant, most blogs which had to resort to moderation, did so because of the antagonism between you and a certain unnamed compulsive.

Bernie O'Hare said...

MM,

1) This post is about Pawlowski's bad manners. You've already exhibited yours, time and again.

2) I have no problem w/ moderated blogs and do not criticize Pam for having a moderated blog bc she doesn't. The first time you post, you are moderated. After that, you may post at will.

3) You are in no position to complain about Pam refusing to allow one of your insulting comments because that is the tactic you take with others, and they extend well beyond Villa.

4) I make no apology for refusing to go along with Villa's incessant and irrational demands, but you should feel free to knuckle under to him at any time.

mm, you are a pompous and unwelcomingly pious man. we really don't care about your beef with every other blogger. Wanna know why you lack credibility in politics: nobody actually likes dealing with you.

OMG, 8:26 AM, I do remember 9/11. Watching Bush's stunned, scared face as he waited for someone else to tell him what to do, and thinking holy crap, we're in deep doo-doo now. Regardless of party affiliation, in that moment you had to think that Clinton would have been off his butt and taking in info + issuing directives on the run. Sometimes being smart really is important -- like when you're President of the United States.

Anonymous said...

OMG!

Bush handled that situation perfectly and put those kids first.

You are correct. Slick Willie would have made it all about him and issued uninformed "directives on the run". Only the current occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has surpassed Clinton's egotism.

I watched the second plane come in after hearing the first, and I saw the panic and chaos. Nobody knew what was happening. Running around issuing directives on the fly would have been exactly the wrong thing to do.

OMG!

To the topic - Poor example by the mayor, but if this was all Allentown had to worry about from him, it would be time to party.

I yelled out "Baba Booey" at Peter Jennings' funeral, so I'm not really sure what is rude and what is not.

Can i make a suggestion, Can the talking heads around here raise the bar. Otherwise were gonna wind up leaving the chair in front of this modern day boob tube and go back to the old fashioned pastimes. how about the rocking chair, knitting, crocheing, jig saw puzzles, lawn chair watching the grass grow, solitare, etc.etc. Scott armstrong might even look for a job.

michael molovinsky said...

my comment submitted to pam's "first comment only moderated blog" was not insulting by any standard.

i also doubt that she "has no time to comment in the blogosphere."

i neither knuckle under to anybody, or regularly carry water for others, as you do. this blog consistently flatters the same people, and likewise criticizes others (with a few tokens exceptions for justification).

Bernie -

Every time that I am certain that I can think no less of our Mayor, I am proven wrong.

Aw leave Pam alone. Shes improving. She has reinvented herself again with a new design on her website. She is in public relations you know. If you think the photos are egotistical on the banner this time you missed the one on her previous banner that captured her wearing an army helmut in afganistan. She reminds me of someone else who served the public in office and did well, created a huge ego,ran for higher office and was rejected. Crushed ego so bad she quit the game and now spends her time cheap shotting others who fight the good fight. If i encouraged women to stand and step up to the plate i would tell them to never give up.I guess thats what a career in public relations does to ya.

I am confused, again.

I thought this article was pretty straightforward. The more I read of the comments, I see not black or white; just different shades of gray.

I guess I owe all of you, a 'Thank You!' for opening up my mind to an assortment of different viewpoints.

Peace, ~~Alex+

Please. Clinton would have been diddling some chubby intern and likely unavailable until he showed her the humidor. And Bush graduated Yale with a higher GPA than Al Gore. I know that's not saying much, but America chose the smarter guy, given the weak options. Jimmy Carter and Woodrow Wilson were widely considered brilliant. And they are widely considered the two worst presidents in US history. Our current guy is somewhere in between. Although he's a pro at reading the teleprompter to Marine corpses in all 57 or 58 states. Otherwise, he just stammers without somebody else's word in front of him.

my comment about the new school super has appeared on varkony's blog. according to michael donovan, it is quite possible for a blogger to overlook new commentators for the first time under the word press format.

i appreciate pam's inclusion of my comment, but stand by my observation that she apparently doesn't find many blogs worthy of her comments, certainly mine.

bernie's heavy handed reaction to my comment here, and our subsequent dialogue, has resulted in a separate post by me, which i also do not regret.

Bernie O'Hare said...

Oh my goodness! My heavy-handedness, which consists basically off refusing to accept his manure, really got me in trouble. I think you should write two or three. Oh, wait, you already have.

And how dare Pam let a day go by without commenting on your blog. Never mind that she has a job and is on a deadline. She should quit and just spend all of her time waiting for your perals of wisdom.

Actually, you don't have to accept Donovan's word. You can accept Pam's.

michael molovinsky said...

actually, she has never commented on my blog, actually she have seldom commented on any valley blog, and has only briefly graced yours, after you have posted about her.

Bernie O'Hare said...

MM,

Your comments are no longer welcome on this thread. You are unable to stick to the subject being discussed bc you are always caught up in your personal vendettas an petty grievances. This is not the place for personal attacks against Pam Varkony. She has no obligation to post here or any other blog, least of all yours.

If you wish to attack her or complain about the lack of commentary by her, do it on your own blog.
