Ron Shegda: He's Baack!

Life's not fair. Pennsylvania state representative Bob Freeman will be facing Hellertown wingnut Ron Shegda for the third time in the battle for the 136th legislative district. In his first effort, a write-in campaign, Shegda was beaten 50 to 1. He vows to keep trying until that margin is down to 10 to 1.

Here's one of Shegda's "position statements."

"I live in a small town in Pennsylvania. Maybe you live in a small township or city. I love Hellertown. My Special Sister calls it 'Lady Jane’s Town.' One of my daily goals is reading my Bible. I think I am close to accomplishing that goal because my main Bible is falling apart. As a fisherman, I’m a cousin to gun owners and support our 2nd Amendment 100%. I’ve learned to hold my fishing rod tight while reeling in a flounder or blue. If you want a national perspective on your humble Candidate, I’m from a small town in Pennsylvania, and I cling to my Bible because I love God and neighbor and I cling to my fishing rod because I want my catch."

There you have it. I'm guessing 60 to 1.

Freeman is a shiftless seat filler who's just cashing checks. I thought the dude was retired or dead or something. He's a rubber stamp for the sleaziest governor in state history and part of the worst legislature in the country. Freeman is an SEIU guy who hasn't said a word about the recent threats on Boy Scouts and volunteerism. He was absolutely silent while he provided no leadership on the budget issue. It's time to clean out the dead wood that has embarrassed the state for years. Freeman should finally be forced to find honest work. He really does nothing for his paycheck. Nothing.

Huh? Is he running to be the governor of Alaska? Sounds a little "rogue" to me. :-)

Isn't that 50 different quotes, from 50 different events? All put together in one paragraph?

Clearly he is a profit. He is speaking in metaphor and tongues!

Seriously what a whacko!

I love the Penis Hat, seriously can you get those on Ebay.

I am not a Republican but I would join if I got one of those hats.

You should use them as recruiting tools on College campuses.

Every guy I know and some chicks would love the Penis Hat.

Too Cool!!

Sjegda is the only individual the R's can get to run against Freeman. Bob is in the right place for his career, I can't see him anywhere else. He has seniority that the Valley needs in the legislature and he is a good legislator. In my mind he serves the district well. I could not see him in an administrative position like County Executive becasue legislators rarely make good administrators. They have a hard time saying no to people.

But this Shegda guy, Whooooaaaa, he is out there.

Shegda should clean up the town he loves sooooo much.I lived there. I moved from there. If everyone in that town minded thier own business as much as they pry into eneryone else, and what they do, it might be a good community. I won't vote for anyone from that town.......

So....we can only level personal attacks on people we disagree with? Oh, wait, it doesn't even sound like there's a disagreement here - just personal attacks. I think Shegda should be commended for his persistence and for having the courage to take on an entrenched elected official with whose positions he disagrees. Oh, and as to the "position statement," grow a sense of humor, please.

His position statement is a joke? That's what I thouht, but then you'd call it a personal attack.

Reading the Bible each day is a good thing! as is fishing and small hometowns....

and even if a commenter disagrees with a persons beliefs and political ways -- they should be civilized (unlike some comments here)

he has my vote

There you have it. Shegda has one vote - himself.
