Why Pa. Needs Health Insurance Reform

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Sebelius today released a new analysis of last week’s U.S. Census numbers regarding those who have no health insurance. The need for health insurance reform in Pennsylvania, something about which both parties agree, is demonstrated by these sobering statistics:

* The number of uninsured in Pennsylvania has increased from 1.0 million in 2001 to 1.2 million in 2008.

* The percentage of non-elderly adults without insurance increased from 10.8% to 13.2% in 2008.

* The percentage of people with employer-based coverage decreased from 80% of the population in 2001 to 74% in 2008.

* The percentage of workers from Pennsylvania without insurance has increased, from 9.8% in 2001 to 12.5% in 2008.

Maxine Waters in fine form today, playing the race card.

Jimmy Carter in fine Demo form today, playing the race card.

If you oppose health care, you are a racist.

If you oppose ANY of Obama's agenda, you are a racist.

Got it, Dems.

Good plan, Democrats.

Attack white people and call them to be racist when all else fails.

So predictable.

Very boring.

Yawn.

Look, a puppy!!!

When in office, Carter had no issues with Robert "KKK" Byrd.

The point I'm trying to make here is that we do have a problem. I think both sides agree on that poit.

I Guess I'm A Racist ! said...

Not a word about torte reform from Sebelius or the rest of this gang of filthy rich and filthy crooked lawyers.

The race card crap is an Alinsky tactic not even worthy of a paid-for Chicago courtroom.

Jimmy Carter is a sullen failure whose famous malaise is being repeated by a guy with even lighter skin than Roslyn's.

I want to believe Obama is better than hateful scoundrels like Carter who are stoking a new race war. I want to believe he's not the guy we've seen and can do something - anything - to rise above it all and be a statesman.

It is so refreshing to have such a brilliant and smart man like Barrack Hussein Obama as President of the United States.

He will remake America and start dispensing some real justice. He said he would.

The evil, greedy rich white racists are in real trouble now! Their days of outrageous profit and exploitation of wealth's rightful owners are over.

White people have exposed themselves as the true hypocrites and haters they are, but, thanks to people like Maxine Waters, the public will have its eyes opened for them and the politically correct opinion rammed down their throat for them.

Give Obama time. America can be great under his leadership. Don't be that hater.

Hey, it is not fair to point out the Democrats' blatant hypocrisy with Robert "KKK" Byrd.

In fact, it's racist, as it detracts from the Democrats' current smear campaign, which is, of course, happening with at least tacit approval of Obama / his advisors.

And Jimmy Carter says if you disagree with Obama, you are a racist.

So lay of Robert "KKK" Byrd, the Democrat.

Don't ask which political party was into segregation, etc., back in the day, either.

Not relevant to current smear campaign being conducted by Democrats after August's Nazi smear campaign failed.

Stick with program, please.

What happened to Hillary Clinton with "it is patriotic to dissent"?

Oh yeah, this is OBAMA's America NOW.

(Reverend Jeremiah Wright's America now? Sol Alinsky's? Bill Ayers? Tony Rezko's? Van Jones'?)

(yes, it looks that way)

Only Americans would fight for the right to pay more than other countries for healthcare that's inferior. Fight against your own self-interests! Go for it!

6:45 = clearly not racist by Obama standards!

I told you all it was coming!

Helter Skelter man!

The race war!

Thank God (that's me) for Obama!

The racial stuff has sidetracked serious debate and alienated independents who've been jumping off in droves.

This presidency has lost all seriousness.

I see the Republicans are jumping all over the race card stuff. The republican party of which my father and grandfather were once proud members has been reduced to a bunch of 12 year olds. Buckley, Goldwater and Reagan must be rolling in their grave to see what they built has turned into.

I may disagree with those men's views but at least they came from some level of reason.

The Republican Party more resembles the WWF than the party of Lincoln. So much so that Vince McMahon's wife thinks she has a shot at a Senate Seat.

The folks who oppose health care for everyone are usually people who have health insurance. I have mine and i don`t care about you how selfish

The GOP is the party of the three R's,

Rude, Racist and Republican!

Anonymous said...

The racism charge is causing the initiative to bomb. While there certainly are racists on both sides, it's a mistake to paint all opposition this way. The tactic of using ridicule only works when you have the majority opinion on your side. Almost every poll indicates this is not the case.

"GOP - three R's"

Rude, Racist, Republican

-----------------------------------

Gotta love liberals.

Hey, IDIOTS:

You have the Super Majority. Pass what you freakin' want. Do not even bother to write it, if you do not wish.

YOU DO NOT NEED REPUBLICANS TO GET ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED!

So, go on with the racist crap Maxine Waters, Jimmy Carter and everyone one else who wants to.

A blind man can see the big picture, blaming racism for ALL failures.

Carter should be a very happy guy these days, not bitter.

Soon, he will NOT be regarded as the WORST President since World War II!!!

Anonymous said...

No longer, already. 'W' is regarded as the worst President of the 20th century. A well deserved honor. He did more to destroy the Constitution and freedom in America than any other President in the 20th century.

Obama isn't even close.

I think not dying young unnecessarily, or paying double what healthcare is worth or being 37th in rank of world health systems is more important than the color of your PResident.

I think hyperbole in lieu of argument (e.g. 7:03) is like watching cartoons.

True colors showing for you, with the hate spewing forth (again), ANON 10:01 PM?

Why are Liberals such punks?

Bernie O'Hare said...

Hey folks, I like good debate. I don't like name calling. Too much of that is going on here.

Bernie 1033..well said. It amazes me how some folks are so afraid of taxes going up to fund health care, but accept 20-30 percent in health insurance premiums. It is also very telling that a conservative board on the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce would publicly oppose health care reform, and then run advertisements on extreme radio that close with the footnote that the add was sponsored by insurance company.
