In-Car Video Camera Systems for Forty LV Police Departments

U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent (PA-15), along with Bethlehem Police Commissioner Randall Miller, representatives of more than 40 Lehigh Valley area police departments, and other regional officials, will today preside over the unveiling of new in-car video camera systems installed in police cars throughout the region. Purchased with a federal appropriation that Congressman Dent secured last year, this inter-municipal project is the first major rollout of next-generation equipment in the entire country.

I'm voting for Charlie and even I have to admit the timing of this press conference is interesting to say the least! Gotta love politics...

Of course its politics. It is also an excellent program. These cameras are an asset to police as well as civilians who are pulled over.

Actually, this laudable program, which protects both cop as well as drivers, was announced about a year ago. It won't hurt Dent politically.

It's sort of akin to Ms. Bennett's personal appearance as an awards presenter at the POM awards program a couple of weeks ago. These types of opportunities are being taken on both sides.

Pete, You're not suggesting that POM is being used for political purposes, are you? True, the Bennett campaign information minister, Gary Ritterstein, prepared press releases, but he did that on his own time. Honest! True, the chair of her board had to resign, but that wasd just to remove the appearance of impropriety. Really! The POM awards are doled out at election time, but that's when the golden rakes are on special.

Anon 346pm, I wasn't questioning the value of the project as I agree that it's worthwhile. I was questioning the timing of the press conference. I wish politics wasn't foremost in things like this, it's just plain tiring.

Agreed, Democrat or Republican, I too tire of the relentleous drumbeat.
As a Democrat I have some fundamental differences in philosophy with my Republican friends. However, I would never question their sincerity or their patriotism. In fact, by keeping an open mind I have either modified or solidified some beliefs in exchanges.
The 'gotcha' and opportunistic politics can be a drag.
Not to be confused with dragqueen like O'Hare.

I have just deleted a personal shot at one of the congressional candidates. Be nice.
